almost.
a poem
almost.
❈
like an injured bird—
does not understand—
and slips through the hands.
❈
almost.
❈
like the daytime—which
becomes the nighttime
before it’s fulfilled.
❈
almost.
❈
like the echoes latched
the door. like a blink—
murdered all my dreams.
❈
almost.
❈
my words are stolen
from the space between
my mouth and your ears.
❈
almost.
❈
coats the windows with
contact poison. blurred—
i wipe it all clear.
❈
almost.
❈
creeps out of my bed
while i’m still asleep
and just disappears.

Love it Em!
The line about words being stolen in the space between your mouth and someone else's ear is brilliant. It perfectly captures that frustrating feeling of being misunderstood before you even finish speaking ✨
