Missed Appointment

how do i pause the world 
each time i need to write about sunshine 
on tree bark?
a tangerine glow, blurs the jagged channels 
which meander from root 
to canopy;
soft light, which wraps half-way round 
the trunk—to meet the shadows of the forest.

i need to write about it.
at sunset. then sunrise—
twice each day.
no time
for anything less important. 

oh, please,
stop the world. 
the trees have never looked this way
and never will again.
