What a thoughtful reflection of culture and family history - the tangible pieces that are lost and the ideology and practices that unsettle themselves over time.

Culture in America is such a curious thing. I don't think there's any bits of my family's culture that have even been passed down. Just americanism.

One thing that does come to mind is in my patriarchal history, there's been loads of truck drivers. And my immediate family all love and prefer to drive and listen to loud music in the car. I'm not sure how cultural that is... But your piece has me thinking about what is passed down and what we carry with us that our ancestors carried with them, too.

Beautifully written and expressed. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
